Twinsie Tuesday: Chanukah Inspired Mani

Hi friends! Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is "Chanukah Inspired Mani".  I have to admit, I was intimidated by this week's challenge. My Chanukah knowledge is admittedly very small, and I was afraid of doing it "wrong".  I relied on Google Image search to inspire me. I hope my Chanukah celebrating friends approve!

Here are the polishes I used:

OMG Nail Strips (Foil Nail Stickers) Review

Hey there! Today I am wearing these fun desings on my nails from OMG Nail Strips!  These are part of their "Foil" collection of strips, and were very easy to apply.

Here's the instructions that I followed on the back of the packaging. I did have to trim a few of the strips with nail clippers to fit my nail beds better- I have tiny nails!  It was very easy to trim them to fit.  I also used an orangewood stick to press down the strip near my cuticle.  I smoothed out as much as I could by pressing and then used a hair dryer to apply a bit of warmth to continue the smoothing (a tip given to me in an email from OMG).

There were a few spots that I couldn't get completely smooth, but nothing terrible.  It had more to do with the fact that I have areas of my nails that are a peeling, so the strip seemed to bunch up there.

I love the cute design, and once they are on, they feel like regular polish. The advantage is that you do not have to have any artistic abilities, whatsoever!  Also, zero drying time means once they are on- you're good to go!

Be sure to check out omgnailstrips.com for their complete selection of products- their designs are unique and fun and affordable- These strips that I have on retail for just $4.29!

Have you worn nail polish strips before? How did you like them?

Let It Snow Nail Art Challenge: Inspired By Holiday Song

Hey there! I'm on theme #2 of the "Let It Snow" Nail Art Challenge that I'm participating in with the lovely gals of the Nail Challenge Collaborative!

This theme is "Inspired by a holiday movie/song/carol".  I had Elvis' " Blue Christmas" playing through my brain on auto repeat this week, so I naturally had to go with that for my nails!

I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red, on a green Christmas tree (ring finger)
Won't be the same dear, if you're not here with me

And when those blue snowflakes start falling (pointer & pinky finger)
That's when those blue memories start calling
You'll be doing alright with your Christmas of white (middle finger)
But I'll have a blue, blue blue blue Christmas....

Here are the polishes I used:

Zoya Ornate Collection: Logan Nail Polish (Pictures) and Some Easy Holiday Nail Art

Here's another from the Zoya "Ornate" Holiday collection!  "Logan" is a forest green with fleck/metallic shimmer.  Gorgeous and very festive!

2 layers:

I then I decided to wrap it up with some ribbon (nail art striping tape). It is best to wait until your polish is COMPLETELY dry to add the tape, that way you have the ability to move it and place it the way you would like before sealing it in with topcoat:

I'm not usually a huge green fan, but there is something about this one that makes me swoon.  You can see Blaze here and Ziv here (also from the Ornate Collection).

Zoya polishes can be purchased on their website, and if you use my referral link here to create an account, you will receive a coupon in your account for a free bottle of polish (even better, add 2 more bottles and get free shipping on that order!).

Which 'Ornate' colors excite you the most?!

Twinsie Tuesday: Black & White Manicure

It's a beautiful, unseasonably warm Tuesday in NJ today (high of 64 in December? Yes please!)  Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is "Black & White Mani", and here is what I came up with for today:

I used OPI Onyx, WnW French White , and a dotting tool to do this look:

What do you think?

Let It Snow Nail Art Challenge: Snowflakes

Hello!  Today marks the start of a new nail art challenge I'm participating in with a group of fantastic ladies known as The Nail Challenge Collaborative.  This is the "Let It Snow" challenge!

Our first day's theme is "Snowflakes". Here is what I came up with. I thought the little shapes on my ring finger looked like snowflakes before I put them on....once they were on my nail, not so much :/  I did the rest of my nails with little blue beads that reminded me of snow collecting on the ground (Zoya Natty is the base color):

What do you think?!  Not my favorite, but I'm a little rusty in the nail art dept...this challenge will help whip me into shape!

Here are the other themes we will be working on:

Don't forget to check out the other participant's Snowflakes too!

Twinsie Tuesday: Thanksgiving

It's the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so I bet you could guess what this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is, right?  Thanksgiving!  I really had no idea what I wanted to do for this theme. I finally decided on 'Apple Pie', because, honestly-that (and stuffing) is my favorite part of Thanksgiving ;) I am a reformed carb addict, but clearly Thanksgiving is the time to splurge a little!  I think that pumpkin pie is usually the more popular choice on this holiday, but I don't like pumpkin (gasp!), and I LOVE apple!

Moving onward, here are the polishes I used:

I started with 2 layers of China Glaze "Desert Sun". As soon as I tried this polish over the summer, I knew I would used it for Fall- it just screams "Autumn" to me:
Then, I added one layer of "I'm Not Lion" on top. This reminds me so much of cinnamon and sugar, which is what inspired me to go with the apple pie theme:

And then, I did some lattice "crust" with Essie "Brooch The Subject".  I'm not totally in love with this, but it does make me want apple pie:

Don't forget to see what the other Twinsies did for their Thanksgiving manicures:
